First off, let me introduce the founder, writer, and creative behind the By Giorgia Blog: me, Giorgia Moi. I’m a copywriter and content marketer by profession, with a passion for all things creative and design.
I thought there would be no better way to kick off this journey than by conducting an “interview” with myself. My hope with this is to let you in on my journey so far, and where I want to take the By Giorgia Blog. Enjoy!
Let’s start from the beginning, how did you get into copywriting?
Since I was young I have always had a crazy imagination and loved to read. When I realized there were authors behind a book, I dreamed of one being able to create stories like them.
In my final year of high school, I realized my favorite (and best) assignments were creative writing. I then decided to go do a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Creative Brand Communication, with copywriting and digital marketing as my majors. And I guess that’s where it all began.
What have you done since finishing up your degree? What has your professional career looked like?
Ten days after submitting my final assessment I made the move to the Netherlands from South Africa. For the first few months after arriving in the Netherlands, I took my time deciding where I wanted to go, and what I wanted to do. I started the new year completing a Web Design course and then landed my first internship.
Right after my first internship ended I got the opportunity to work for an awesome digital agency based in Rotterdam. There I truly was able to develop into a well-rounded copywriter. I have now chosen to take yet another leap by moving to Ireland to continue my journey of self-discovery and professional development. I have also spent some time freelancing remotely from Portugal and the Netherlands.
What do you hope to do moving forward in your career?
I would love to work for a company or agency in Ireland that speaks to my values and allows me to create content that makes an impact.
I am also currently completing a Professional Diploma at the UX Design Institute and Glasgow Caledonian University. Once I qualify as a UX professional I will have added to my skills offering.
Now that we’ve spoken about your career goals, what are your goals for the By Giorgia Blog?
What can we expect from the By Giorgia Blog in the future?
You can expect content about my journey as a copywriter, the advice I have from my experiences, and information about some of the latest trends in the industry.
I also love to travel and who knows I may deviate occasionally from the stated intention of this blog and share some of my travel experiences. That’s if you wish to read about this.
Now that we’ve covered the future of the blog, please provide us with three fun facts about yourself.
I consider myself an enthusiastic global citizen. I love to travel, and by June I would’ve lived in four countries, and eight different cities. And on top of that, I’ve traveled to four continents and twenty-six countries. I’m hoping to make it thirty by my 25th birthday.
Another fact is that I am a pug lover/sister/mom. My two pugs, Dexter and Diesel, currently live with my parents, but they are my best friends.
Lastly, I love history. Everything about the past fascinates me. If you don’t find me watching or reading a historical romance show or novel, you’ll find me watching documentary after documentary on YouTube.
With that awkward self-interviewed interview out of the way, I hope you’ll choose to stick around. You can keep up-to-date on the latest blogs from By Giorgia Blog by connecting with me on Linkedin and Instagram. I hope to catch you in the next one.
